Owen Sheehan

Owen is an Associate in MJM’s Dispute Resolution Team. His practice covers a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including property related disputes, shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, data breach claims, and complex mediations. He also has particular experience in insolvency and restructuring matters, having acted for creditors, private equity funds and insolvency practitioners in high profile receiverships and liquidations in the Irish Superior Courts.

He also assists in employment law matters, including representing clients before Employment Tribunals in Bermuda and advising on compliance with Bermuda’s employment legislative landscape.

Before qualifying in Bermuda, he trained and practised at a top-tier Irish commercial law firm, gaining significant exposure to high value litigation mandates.

Representative Work

• Advised an Irish State body in relation to the largest data breach in Ireland to date.
• Acted for a secured creditor in a high profile Irish Supreme Court appeal concerning a novel point of law relating to personal insolvency proceedings;
• Acted for an Irish institutional fund in receivership proceedings brought to enforce security and obtain injunctive relief restraining dealings with property assets in excess of 6 million euro;
• Acted for a Bermuda based employer in Employment Tribunal proceedings, successfully defending claims of unfair dismissal;
• Advising an international client on Bermuda regulatory matters, including insider trading legislation and associated compliance obligations;
• Acted for a trade union in Bermuda in defending injunction proceedings brough by an employer in the context of an industrial relations dispute.
